About the
Children's Network

At the Children's Network, we take pride in serving as advocates for the well-being of children and families throughout Solano County. Through a diverse array of programs spanning education, direct service, and advocacy, our overarching goal is to safeguard the safety, health, and holistic development of every child within our community.

Our Founding Story

In 1982, the unexpected closure of a local children’s shelter left our community in shock, revealing a critical need for better oversight and support for the young people in Solano County. Fueled by the concern of residents and a commitment to protect our children, the Children's Network was founded. Since then, we have been a dedicated voice for the children of Solano County, serving as a central hub for resources, advocacy, and collaborative efforts that ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Milestones in Our Journey

In the 1990s, the Children’s Network played a pivotal role in establishing Family Resource Centers in every city across Solano County. These centers continue to be vital neighborhood-based hubs where families access essential resources, strengthen parenting skills, and engage in community activities.

During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Children’s Network swiftly responded to the heightened vulnerabilities faced by families. We worked relentlessly to keep families safe, secure housing, and support their children through the crisis, raising and distributing over $450K to assist 621 families in 2020 alone.

How We Work

We are a dedicated voice for Solano County's children, advocating with stakeholders to address critical needs and bridge service gaps. Through outreach and information referrals, we ensure families and providers access vital resources for their health and prosperity.

Our efforts include coordinating programs, securing funding, providing training, and fostering partnerships to maximize our impact. We offer essential services, from family strengthening initiatives to financial assistance, and support external programs to uplift the community.

As advocates, we champion policies that enhance safety, prosperity, and opportunity. By connecting resources across institutions, we make it easier for Solano families to thrive. Our work also addresses the root causes of challenges like poverty, aiming for both immediate relief and long-term systemic change.
